this study is to improve the scales of ability for early childhood education forstudents who aspire to be a preschool teacher or a childcare worker.The scales consisted of 37 items previouslyused(Akiyama2011),which investigated the image that in-service preschool teachers have of anideal competence in childcare.In Japan,public and social childcare are supported mainly by both preschoolteachers and childcare workers.For the present study,eleven new items were added to thescales,and an inquiry of childcare workers who had been teaching for at least 5 years was conducted;157responses were received.First,the data obtained from a multiple-answer questionnaire using a chi-squaretest and quantification method type III were compared with 31 items which both preschool teachers(thedata reported in Akiyama 2011)and childcare workers consider important.Consequently,I found differencesand similarities between the two groups in their cognitive structure concerning childcare.Inaddition,I identified six categories by cluster analysis of the 48 items.These results will be useful forimproving the scales for the students.", "subitem_description_type":
